湖边社区是福建省厦门市湖里区金山街道下辖的社区，位于湖边水库东面，分布于仙岳路两侧，辖区面积约1平方千米。[2]

社区东北邻高林社区，南面毗邻金湖、蔡塘两地，西面与后坑社区相接。[2]

地名由来[edit]

社区地处水库边缘，因此得名。[1]

历史沿革[edit]

民国初，此处归西宫保；1945年抗战胜利后改属湖边保。1950年初，上湖、下湖、洪塘三地划入五通乡，1958年则在前线公社后坑大队之内。[1]

1984年起归禾山乡，由后坑村委会管辖。2003年并入后坑社区体系，2004年9月划归金山街道。[1]

社区由后坑社区析出下湖社及金益三里等地设立。本页记设立于2011年3月26日，后坑社区一页记为2010年3月26日（见后坑社区）。[1][3]

人口民族[edit]

社区有「村改居」而来的下湖社四个自然小组，其中户籍人口1592人；另有流动人口约1万人。[2]

文化[edit]

社区建有下湖文化活动中心、居家养老服务站和社区文化广场。2021年11月，社区被福建省爱卫办命名为「2021年福建省卫生社区」。[1][2]
