西岭村位于沙埔镇镇区西侧，村庄东部一部分已划入镇区规划区。村名取西倪、岭头两个自然村名的首字而得。村辖岭头、大山、西倪三个自然村，以农业种植为主，花生、地瓜是主要作物。[1]

历史沿革[edit]

宋代此地属崇德乡平南里六十一都，明代属北二隅，清末归高山镇崇德乡。民国时属六十乡东盛保，之后改属东盛乡，1956年又划入江厦乡。[1]

1958年归高山人民公社，1981年3月归沙埔人民公社；1982年自原大队析出，单独成立西岭大队。1984年9月设沙埔乡西岭村委会，1992年随乡改镇。[1]

荣誉[edit]

2021年11月，西岭村被授予「2021年福建省卫生村」称号。[1]
