东光村在港头镇东北部，原称港头。1958年东张水库穿村而过，村子因此分成三处，位于东面的一处定名为东光村。[1]

历史沿革[edit]

此地在1910年前后隶属龙田镇。1943年编为十三甲，并设东光保。新中国成立后的1950年，村子进入第七区港头乡；1958年改由龙田公社港头大队管理。1961年起归港头公社，1984年大队换称村民委员会，1992年因乡改镇而随之成为镇辖村。[1]

荣誉[edit]

福建省爱卫办于2021年11月授予东光村「2021年福建省卫生村」称号。2025年11月，村入选「福建省2025年度省级“一村一品”专业村」，主导产品是胡萝卜。[1]
