东园村属福州市晋安区新店镇，为行政村，城乡分类为主城区。村旧称东埔园，以东埔山为界：东侧地势较高称东埔顶，西侧平坦处称东埔园，后演变为东园。2024年1月，村被命名为「2023年福建省卫生村」。[1]

历史沿革[edit]

土改之后，村中先组织农会，1953年结成互助组，1955年办起初级社，1956年转为高级社。1958年村内设东园大队，归公社管辖；1983年改为东园村委会。[1]
