村由原新街村、华丰村、九号坝、盈上村四村于2005年合并而成。[1]

据2022年发布的村概况，总人口5523人，村民户数1482户，全村区域面积3.51平方千米，设23个村民小组，党员235人，村干部7人。[1]

农业以花卉苗木为主；农户家家种苗木，此外村中还有苗木合作社、园林工程公司和经销商。[2]

文化[edit]

2023年7月，江南村被命名为「浙江省“红色根脉”强基（基层党建）示范村（社区）」。[2]

村文化礼堂列入「2022年度浙江省五星级农村文化礼堂」名单，为新街首个五星级文化礼堂。[3]
