东园社区是浙江省杭州市拱墅区潮鸣街道下辖的社区，位于街道中央，东侧为刀茅巷，南侧连着凤起路，西侧是大树路，北侧靠东园街，面积接近0.12平方千米。社区有居民楼45幢，居民住宅2797户，人口约7638人[1]。

地名由来[edit]

「东园」一名源自南宋的「东御园」。园景荒废后，元末张士诚扩建城垣，此地划入城内，因居民稀少，荒地上多有池塘，人们称之为东园；居民增多后聚成坊巷，周边地名也沿用了「东园」之名[4]。

历史沿革[edit]

此前这里分属东园居委会与南园居委会。2001年3月，两个居民区并为一个社区，沿用原名；2005年3月，石板巷社区并入[3]。

社区风貌[edit]

东园街北侧建有「宋词一条街」，选刻五十首爱国题材宋词与五十件书法作品，连成一百六十米长的碑廊[1]。

荣誉[edit]

2023年1月，社区被命名为「浙江省2022年度省级民主法治村（社区）」[1]。社区先后获评的称号里，有全国睦邻文化示范社区，也有浙江省百佳社区与浙江省示范社区[2]。
