历史沿革与地名[edit]
村名最初写作“扶阳”。当地旧时的田地水冷泥深，一年只能种一季稻，于是改称湖洋，沿用下来。[3]
湖洋在1949年是湖洋乡；其后依次改为生产大队（1958年起）、小乡（1983年）、村民委员会（1987年）、管理区（1989年），1999年定为湖洋村民委员会。[2]
经济[edit]
村里产木材和脐橙，脐橙与仙人草是特色收入；据博雅地名网，上一年农村经济总收入836.9万元。[1]2023年4月，湖洋村名列「2022年广东省乡村治理示范村」创建单位。[1]
著名人物[edit]
谢升庸（1701年生），字畴裕，乾隆十年（1745年）进士，曾任江苏金坛县令、河南正阳县令，后改任惠州府教授。[4]故居进士堂始建于明代，是两堂两横加一座围龙的格局，堂内存有“进士”匾和镀金的“潜德光昭”匾，属平远县文物保护单位，也是梅州市历史建筑。[4]
