地名由来：主村名为荷树坪，村名即取自于此。[2]
荷坪原是荷树坪大队，1961年自硃坑大队分设。此后的名称依次为荷坪乡（1983年）、管理区（1986年）、村委会（1993年）；1999年起称村民委员会。[3]
