封川村是封开县江口街道下辖的行政村，位于原封川县城一带，1987年经批准设立村民委员会，因驻地在封川而得名。[1]全村有32个村民小组，面积约17.6平方公里，人口4167人，在街道各村中最多。[1]
历史沿革[edit]
解放初期叫附城乡；公社化后为封川大队，1982年一度称封川乡，1987年定为村民委员会。[1]
经济[edit]
全村耕地2136亩，其中水田1340亩。[1]村里发展“菜篮子”基地，是封开县的主要蔬菜供应地之一；从事建筑装修、修理、餐饮服务等二、三产业的村民有五百多人。[1]2008年农业总收入约3098万元。[1]2021年12月，封川村获评2021年广东省卫生村。[1]
名胜古迹[edit]
封川古城墙在北山之南，临西江而建，据百度百科，城墙隋代始建，原为土墙，1469年（明成化五年）改砌砖墙；原先呈长方形，周长约784米，如今留下东、西两段墙体和南门，总长约400米，墙砖印有「封川军造」「封川县城砖」字样。[2]2008年，封川古城墙列入「第五批广东省文物保护单位」。[2]百度百科的另一词条则说古城始建于唐代，1450年（明正统十四年）由典史陈顺就旧址重建。[3]
