历史沿革[edit]
元代延祐初年，柯姓从高罗迁到山上居住，起初叫“山头村”；改成现名是在清光绪年间（1875年至1908年）[1]。1958年称山秀大队，隶长岐公社；此后依次改为乡委会（1983年）、管理区（1987年），1988年成为村委会[1]。
经济与荣誉[edit]
梅化公路穿村而过，东面近三丫江。农业种水稻、蕃薯、蔬菜、花生，部分村民养殖、捕捞或经商；村内有中学1所、小学2所，有轮机砖厂3间[1]。2021年1月，该村被评为「湛江市2020年度全市文明村」；2019年9月，被列入「2018年广东省“民主法治示范村（社区）”创建单位」[1]。
