历史沿革[edit]

东岭的建制沿革为：大队（1958年）、乡（1984年）、村委会（1987年2月）、管理区（1989年）、村民委员会（1999年）。[1]

荣誉[edit]

  • 该村为「广东省第三批百千万工程典型村镇」，认定时间是2026年3月。[1]
  • 该村在湛江市2021年1月公布的「2020年度全市文明村」之列。[1]
  • 2018年度「广东省民主法治示范村（社区）」创建单位，于2019年9月公布名单，该村在列。[1]

名胜古迹[edit]

雷州莫氏宗祠在东岭村，由明代休宁知县莫汝翰倡建，是明末清初在柬埔寨、越南活动的华侨莫玖（1655—1735年）的祖祠。祠为四进四合院，砖木结构硬山顶，面宽20.85米、进深66.3米，占地1382平方米，共有厅房12间；正厅右壁嵌明万历年间刻的莫亚崖像，祠内还存明万历十九年至二十九年的多方族祠、祠田碑记。[2]莫玖后来改姓鄚，成为越南河仙镇的开拓者和实际统治者。[3]
