通明村在湛江市麻章区太平镇，临雷州湾，即明清雷州水师白鸽寨所在，村名又作通明港村[1][2]。省级文物保护单位白鸽寨遗址和市级文物保护单位宣封庙都在村内[2][3][4]。

历史沿革[edit]

1958年立大队，1983年建乡，1986年起设村民委员会，1988年改为管理区，1999年复设村民委员会，沿用至今[1]。

名胜古迹[edit]

隆庆年间（1567至1572年），明廷在通明港设白鸽寨，驻水师以防倭寇；入清后先后改派镇守水师（顺治八年，1651年），并筑起土城、官署和炮台（康熙九年，1670年）[2][3]。2019年，白鸽寨遗址被公布为广东省文物保护单位，保护范围含宣封庙、六角大井与碑刻[3]。宣封庙由白鸽寨把总童龙在万历十四年（1586年）创建，1991年起为湛江市文物保护单位[2][4]。

全村居民由官兵后代、商人后裔和沿海渔民后人组成，村里把巷称作街，保留了衙门街、米行街、后墟街等名称[2]。
