据百度百科，邓姓先祖在南宋咸淳年间南迁，在此落户；民国时才设石名小乡，其后辖区几经调整，2009年恢复称石名村委会，沿用至今[1]。

村里耕地约864亩，另有鱼塘、果园和山林；村内有工业企业28家[1]。
