历史沿革[edit]
旧时聚落分散，形似梅花，称梅花乡，后按方位分为梅东、梅西两大聚落，村名由此而来。[1]明清至民国初，属兴练都，后属附廓都。陇美、东门两村在1949年后合为一村；此后依次称大队（1958年）、乡（1984年）、村（1987年）、管理区（1993年），1999年改称村委会至今。[1]
经济[edit]
耕地2020亩，鱼塘180亩，山林4225亩。村里造纸大厂8家，另有93家中小纸品加工厂，聚成一条纸品街；还有建筑工程队15支。[2]2022年10月，梅西村列入2022年淘宝村名单。[1]
名胜古迹[edit]
马平田墓是明代古墓，在蔡八岭下的马厝埔，2010年3月22日列为汕头市文物保护单位。[1]
