赤港社区是广东省汕头市濠江区达濠街道辖下的社区居委会，位于达濠镇区中心，素有「地心」之称，面积约0.4平方千米。[1]辖区内有明代古寨、金兰观、达濠万人墓、双泉寺和双泉公园等。[2]

历史沿革[edit]

相传昔日载粟的木帆船可直驶到寨的东门，这条水道称「粟港」，粟与赤读音相近，寨遂名赤港。[1]明《隆庆潮阳县志》已有赤港之名，清代称赤港乡。[3]

1954年属达濠镇，1957年设赤港村，1959年设赤港大队，1980年大队一分为二，分出赤港居委会和赤港农业大队；1987年3月改设赤港管理区，1999年撤管理区、设居委会，2003年起属濠江区达濠街道。[3]

人口民族[edit]

社区有居民2200多户、一万多人，分中山、南雄、西宁、北德四个居民小组，居民以经商务工为主。[2]

名胜古迹[edit]

社区北面依山而建的古寨保存完好，据博雅地名网称始建于明代。[2]山后的达濠万人墓是1943年饥荒中地方善堂集葬死难者的墓园，现为省级文物保护单位。[4]晚清时期，赤港曾连出三名举人。[2]
