名称由来[edit]
据博雅地名网，新津河带来的泥沙在官埭南滨西南的出海口淤出一片浅海滩涂，起初叫“官埭外埔”。地势低洼、沟堀多，退潮时鱼虾留在沟里，邻乡人戏称“虾堀埔”，后讹作“虾骨埔”，再以谐音雅化为“厦贵埠”，1949年后写作夏桂埔[1]。
历史沿革[edit]
清代隶澄海县蓬洲都。改革开放后，1984年在珠池区设夏桂埔乡，1986年改为行政村；1996年10月，龙津街道成立夏桂埔居委会；龙津街道在2001年12月并入龙祥街道，居委会于2002年2月易名社区居民委员会[3]。
人口设施[edit]
据社区概况，有1065户，常住人口4884人，外来流动人口近1.5万人。社区有小学1所、幼儿园9所、敬老院3所，以及文化广场、生活市场各1个；集体名下有5幢厂房（共15700平方米），年收入为460万元。社区被广东省评为“六好平安和谐社区”[2]。
