历史沿革[edit]
明洪武十五年（1382年），清化巡检司署设在这里，一带称清化。1938年10月，乡政府从黄沙街迁到此处；因其位于巡检司署的街场之前，清化之名改为「司前街」，并成为建制镇，司前之名由此而来。[1]
