50年代这里属旧犁市镇，叫蔬菜大队，之后更名花坪大队，八十年代改称管理区，到1999年设立花坪村委会。[1]
2021年12月，花坪村获广东省爱卫会授予2021年广东省卫生村称号；2022年1月，被省乡村振兴局列为乡村治理示范村的创建单位（2021年度）。[1]
