地名由来[edit]
流花桥始建于南汉，属当时的离宫芳春园。相传宫女将隔日残花投入溪水，花瓣飘过桥下，「流花」之名由此而来。[1][2]明代由理税太监改成石板桥，并添了亭台，因亭内有「民乐」匾，又名民乐桥。[3]今天的桥面是清代重修的，用11块花岗岩石板拼成，长5.48米，宽4.55米，侧面刻着「流花古桥」。[3]它是越秀区登记保护的文物，2023年1月被收入《广州市地名保护名录（第一批）》。[3][3]
历史沿革[edit]
社区源于1954年的第五居委会，流花街道设立（1974年）后归街道管。1999年起称流花居委会，2002年改叫流花桥居委会；2014年与兰圃居委会合并，名称又用回流花居委会。[2]
其他[edit]
社区在2021年11月获评「广州市绿色社区」，2024年11月又获认定为「2024年广州市充分就业社区」。[1][2]2020年疫情期间，这里最先试行封闭管理。[1]
