柑园社区得名于辖地原为城郊的柑桔园[1]。2019年9月，柑园社区列入「2018年广东省民主法治示范村（社区）创建单位名单」[1]。

历史沿革[edit]

清初，此地是附城团辖下的柑园堡；1931年划为城内乡的柑园堡，同在城东南乡。建国初改称柑园乡，编入五区[2]。

1958年公社化时，它成为柑园大队，归罗城公社；1963年转隶附城公社。1983年大队改为乡，归附城区；1986年11月乡制撤销，改为村委会，隶附城镇[2]。

1988年4月，柑园由文塔镇（即附城）划归罗城镇，村委会改为居委会。1989年成为管理区，隶罗城镇；1998年撤管理区后，居委会名称得以恢复。2002年3月，此地改称柑园（社区）居民委员会，归罗城街道管辖[2]。
