新城村属都城镇，为镇乡结合区内的行政村。1980年至1986年间，向阳水库淹没区的村民迁来，在相邻的山地上建宅定居，这片新建的村落靠近城镇，故取名「新城」。[1]

历史沿革[edit]

村中以陈姓为最多，其次有岑、许、黄等姓。[2]

1980年至1986年间村地属附城乡，设新城生产大队；1987年起设新城村民委员会，1989年以后归都城镇管辖，1999年起沿用至今。[2]

2019年9月，村上榜「2018年广东省民主法治示范村（社区）创建单位」名单；同年10月，入选「2019年广东省卫生村」名录；广东省爱卫会于2020年12月将「2020年广东省卫生村」称号授予村。[1]
