榄塘村属都城镇，为镇乡结合区内的行政村，村名因驻地有多处水塘、塘边和周边种有榄树而来。[1]

历史沿革[edit]

1980年间，通门镇向阳水库淹没区的村民迁来定居。1980年至1986年间村地属附城乡，设榄塘生产大队；1987年至1989年5月属附城乡人民政府，设村民委员会；1989年6月至1998年为都城镇人民政府所辖的榄塘管理区；1999年起设榄塘村民委员会，沿用至今。[1]

2019年9月，村上榜「2018年广东省民主法治示范村（社区）创建单位」名单。[1]
