河头镇位于新兴县西部，距县城约32公里，境内多山，新兴江贯穿全镇。镇名来自西河上游的埠头。[1][2]

镇内以林下经济和特色种养为主，青梅、蜂蜜、肉桂等是较常见的产物。步郎村一带的梅林每年冬季举办梅花旅游季活动，至2026年已连续举办五年。[4][5]

历史沿革[edit]

1950年8月，原云浮县河涟乡改隶新兴县，属第五区（天堂区）。1957年，撤区设乡，此处设河头乡。1958年10月起，河头乡大部分地区与天堂乡合并，组成天堂公社。1961年9月，河头公社从中分出。到1983年，这里改称河头区，至1987年3月才设镇。[1]

2024年1月，云浮市卫生健康局将河头镇命名为「2023年云浮市卫生镇」。2026年6月，河头镇与新兴县另外五个镇一同通过省级评定，成为广东省第三批「百县千镇万村高质量发展工程」典型镇。[1][5]

地理环境[edit]

河头镇位于新兴县西部，东面与六祖镇接壤，南邻天堂镇，西接云城区，北接簕竹镇。全镇辖区面积为169.27平方千米，山地多、宜林面积大，森林密布，曾是省、县两级的林业生产基地。[2][3]

新兴江贯穿全镇，河段落差大。四甲河沿岸建有滨水景观与步道。[2][5]

境内矿产有花岗岩、高岭土、石英石，也有钨和金矿。料坑、步朗一带分布有墨绿色的辉绿岩，当地称「河头绿」；博雅地名网记其储量为1160万立方米。[2]

人口民族[edit]

2003年全镇户籍人口为2.39万人。博雅地名网记第七次全国人口普查的数字为1.29万人，标注时间为2021年6月。[1][2]

经济[edit]

青梅有规模化的种植，并发展出青梅酒、蜜饯等深加工。此外，镇内还产蜂蜜、肉桂、油茶、沙谷米和料坑河鲜。料坑建有蜂蜜加工厂，镇内另有一家花生油加工厂。[5][4]

名胜古迹[edit]

步郎村一带有梅林约4000多亩，林中辟有三条赏梅线路，分别为隔岸观赏、乘舟赏梅和林中探访。梅花旅游季已连续举办五年，沿线出现了民宿、研学等新业态。[4]

交通[edit]

广茂铁路在境内设有湾边站，地方文献亦称三茂铁路。[2][6]
