1986年，岭头与下心埔合为新星管理区；1999年改设新星村委会，名称延续至今。[1]

山地4384亩，耕地736亩。农业上以水稻、甘薯为主。[1]

2019年9月，村列入2018年广东省「民主法治示范村（社区）」创建单位名单。[1]
