锡坑村是大南山街道下辖的行政村，原址位于大南山系深处，是三坑水库上库区的移民村，也是大南山革命老苏区的一部分。[1][2]

村内的「中国工农红军第二、四师野战医院旧址（吴爷宫）」和「普宁县革命委员会成立旧址（西祠堂、和祖祠）」是这一带的重要革命旧址。[3]

历史沿革[edit]

1927年底，中共普宁县委在大南山设立后方委员会，何石任主任。后方医疗所就设在吴爷宫，收治的有八一南昌起义部队遗留的伤员，也有当地农军的伤员。1929年后，这所医疗所改称红二、四师野战医院，时任红四师参谋长的徐向前也曾在此疗伤。1985年2月，徐向前元帅为旧址题写了匾额。[3]

1929年11月中旬，锡坑村召开会议，与会的农民代表选出了普宁县革命委员会，推举李崇三为主席、何石为副主席。委员会以西祠堂为办公地，直到1930年下半年。[3]

1978年因修建三坑上库，部分自然村外迁，锡坑自此单独成立大队。1983年12月废社设区后划入三坑乡；1987年3月撤区建镇，单独设锡坑村委会；1991年3月改为锡坑管理区，1999年则定名为村民委员会。[1]

1993年，村民以集资买地的方式，在现址征地33.4亩建设锡坑新村，建成楼房18幢，另建有学校、幼儿园、村委办公楼以及老年人活动室。[1]

名胜古迹[edit]

锡坑西祠堂建于1929年，是县级文物保护单位，前面的保护范围延伸5米，两侧至墙外滴水。红军野战医院的年代为1928年，同为县级文物保护单位。[3]
