2023年12月，本村被认定为「揭阳市2023年市级森林乡村」。[1]

历史沿革[edit]

此地在公社化时期单独成立大队，取名新宁大队。1983年12月废社设区后隶属大南山区；1987年3月撤区建镇，单独设立新宁村，隶属大南山镇。1991年3月起称新宁管理区，1999年又改为村委会，名为新宁村委会。[1]
