溪西镇是广东省揭阳市惠来县下辖的镇，位于县境中部偏西，处在龙江河西岸，东面与隆江镇相邻，最南端的埔洋村濒临南海。全镇有44个自然村。[1][2][3]

地理环境[edit]

镇域北部为丘陵山地，南部是平原，地势由北向南渐低。全镇位于龙江河西部，堤围线长24.5公里。属亚热带季风气候，平均气温21.8℃，全年日照2039小时，降水1838毫米。[1]

面积的数字各家不同：镇政府网站以2020年发布的数字为62.6平方千米；百度百科所载为58.86平方千米；博雅地名网作52平方公里。[1][2][3]

历史沿革[edit]

驻地明初建村，因位于龙江西岸而取名溪西，镇名也由此而来。[2][3]

建制几经更迭：1949年属隆江区，1952年划为惠来县第五区；1957年归隆江镇，1958年9月改入红光公社。1959年，红光公社易名为隆江公社，1961年3月才又分出溪西公社；之后1983年12月设区，1986年由区改镇。[2][3]

原属南海乡的山陇、埔洋两村，在南海乡政府于2004年撤销建制后归入溪西镇。[2]

人口[edit]

镇政府网站所载为2019年底数字：住户15444户；人口95861人，农业人口有62459人，城镇人口33402人。[1] 博雅地名网则引第七次全国人口普查结果，写为5.55万人，并标注为2021年6月的数据，与前一数字相差甚大，两说并存。[2]

博雅地名网所载产业数字未注年份，其段落引用的是1987年的数字：荔枝种植8590亩，各类果树共1.6万亩，山地2.46万亩；镇办工业7家，主要产品为草艺制品和果菜加工制品。[2]

名胜古迹[edit]

西来古寺在溪二村，明嘉靖四年（1525年）创建，寺内存有乾隆年间的木刻牌匾和释迦佛像。[5][6] 百度百科称该寺1990年被列为惠来县文物保护单位，博雅地名网则称之为惠来县重点文物保护单位。[5][6] 2022年1月，镇里的防控指挥机构发出通告，暂停佛光寺、西来古寺开放。[4]

黄光山在鲁阳村东部，是当年的革命旧址，山上有石佛等多处景观。[7]

著名人物[edit]

林连登（1867～1963），字达科，鲁阳村人，华侨企业家。光绪二十一年（1895年）赴马来西亚谋生，后任马来西亚潮州公会联合会主席。[2]
