溪东村在惠来县城南面偏东约10.3公里，村落沿溪东溪呈长条状分布。村民以农业为主，兼营渔业，村西溪东溪出海处盛产鳗鱼苗。[1]

地名由来[edit]

村子三面环山、一面临海，溪水绕过村前流向出海口，村位于溪的东侧，因而得名溪东。溪也随村得名溪东溪。[1]

历史沿革[edit]

明末，谢姓居民到此创村，此后张、林、黄等姓相继迁入，又有多个姓氏陆续聚居，形成多姓村落。新中国成立后先办农业合作社，1958年成为大队；1983年改为乡，1987年为溪东管理区，1999年改成溪东村委会。[1]

荣誉[edit]

2020年11月，本村被授予「第六届全国文明村镇」称号。[1]

2023年11月，本村入选「广东“百千万工程”首批典型县镇村」。[1]
