城西社区位于靖海镇中心区，名称源于靖海城南门：居委驻地以该门为中心，社区居民区位于门的西侧，与城东社区相邻。[1]

历史沿革[edit]

社区的前身是靖海区居民委员会，存在于1958年至1986年间。1986年11月18日，该居委分出城东与城西两部分，城西由此单独设立。[1]

1994年至1999年间称城西居民管理区，1999年至2002年改称城西居委，2002年起定名为城西社区居民委员会。[1]
