良田乡是广东省揭阳市揭西县西北部的一个乡，地处山区，平均海拔约500米，距县城26公里^[1]。乡境东面与五经富镇相连，南面靠近河婆街道，西面连着五华县的棉洋镇，北面紧挨丰顺县的八乡山镇^[2]。

历史沿革[edit]

1949年，这一带属揭阳县横江区，1957年改称横江乡。1958年归河婆人民公社管辖，1959年7月独立，建良田人民公社^[1]^[2]。1965年改属揭西县。1976年11月，岸洋等6个生产大队被划出良田，另建西田人民公社^[1]。1983年，良田与西田设区；1986年12月，两地设乡。2003年6月30日，西田乡并入良田乡，合称良田乡^[1]^[2]。

良田乡在2024年3月获得「2023年广东省卫生乡镇」的命名^[1]。

地名由来[edit]

据说古时村民住处分散，为了便于收缴地税，人们在今新建楼附近划出一片田地，专门用来交税，因此称作“粮田”。“粮”与“良”读音相同，后人便改“粮”为“良”，此名沿用至今^[1]。

地理环境[edit]

乡境高山环绕，东侧与大北山林场交界^[1]。2018年的面积为130.17平方千米^[2]；博雅地名网另载面积为53.05平方千米，未注年份^[1]。

人口[edit]

第七次全国人口普查结果显示，2020年11月1日零时，良田乡常住人口为12237人，占全县常住人口的1.81%^[3]。

经济[edit]

2023年的乡政府工作报告提到，全乡以茶叶、苦笋、南药等特色农业为主攻方向，并推动水稻的一二三产业融合^[4]。

维基百科“揭西县”条目列出客家语分布的乡镇，良田乡在其中^[6]。

名胜古迹[edit]

南方人民银行纪念馆位于下村。1949年4月，中共中央同意华南分局组建南方人民银行，由华南分局的蔡馥生、赵元浩二人负责筹备^[8]^[4]。

良田革命烈士纪念碑列为一般不可移动文物。该碑纪念的是1934年在湖头菜园坷遭围困而殉职的红军9人，以及解放战争时期和此后建设年代里牺牲在本乡的6名烈士^[5]。

著名人物[edit]

刘向东（1906～1984年）是本县良田乡水井头村人。1951年7月，他转任省级农林行政工作，担任广东省农林厅第一副厅长；1984年12月18日，他在北京病逝^[7]。
