坎头村位于大溪镇北面，地处榕江北岸。村名因南面临榕江、地势多陡坎而得，旧时有「大溪坎头墟」之称，如今墟市已不复往日的兴盛。[1]

2021年12月，该村获「2021年广东省卫生村」荣誉称号；2019年9月，该村列入「2018年广东省民主法治示范村（社区）」创建单位名单。[1]

历史沿革[edit]

1983年设区、乡后，该地属大溪区；1986年12月起为大溪镇坎头管理区，1999年起称大溪镇坎头村民委员会。更早时，1949年后先后隶属南联区大溪乡、五联区，1958年9月起归钱坑人民公社。[2]
