历史沿革[edit]

村中袁氏族人祖籍浙江省龙游县，于明代迁居此地。民国时期此地属揭阳县磐溪都。[1]

1958年城南隶属磐东公社，称城南大队；1983年改为磐东区城南乡；1986年设立村委会，沿用至今。[1]

地理环境[edit]

1930复线公路环村而过，交通十分方便。[1]

经济[edit]

农业以水稻为主，村中曾以织夏布闻名。近年发展的产业有五金制品和塑料加工业。[1]
