港美村是曲溪街道下辖的行政村，位于揭东县城中心区域，南临榕江，东靠国道206线。村域面积约0.4平方千米，设有两个经济联合社。[1][2]

历史沿革[edit]

村庄始创于明朝嘉靖年间。清代属揭阳县梅岗都，民国时期属梅西乡，1951年归梅北区，1957年归梅北区曲溪乡，1958年归梅岗公社。自1986年起称港美村民居委会，沿用至今。[1][2]

人文与产业[edit]

据博雅地名网记述，村中先人于明嘉靖年间中进士，授任湖广宜章知县，又任桂阳、江华县令。1995年，村里创办港美肉菜综合市场，占地200多亩，铺面近千间。同年又投资400多万元兴建港美新学校，建筑面积6700多平方米，1996年初投入使用，1998年被确定为镇中心小学。[1][2]

荣誉[edit]

1994年，村治调会获省司法厅授予「优秀人民调解会」称号；1995年，村党总支获省委授予「全省先进基层党组织」称号。[2]
