新乡村处在梅云街道的中心，交通方便，寨前溪流经村中，富有水乡特色。[1]揭阳市骏业五金塑胶有限公司是村中的龙头企业，带动了村里的经济。[1]

历史沿革[edit]

1958年1月，村中成立农业高级合作社，隶属安乐乡；同年12月改为生产队，归云光管区。[1]

1959年4月起属云光生产大队，1961年并入梅云公社的梅吉大队。[1]其后，1971年改属赤水大队，1979年赤水拆分，村子另立新乡大队。[1]1983年归梅云区梅畔乡管辖，1986年设新乡村委会，归梅云街道。[1]

经济[edit]

村里共365户、1993人（博雅地名网所载，年份未注）。[1]2008年，村中工农业产出481万元；村民的人均收入为5430元。[1]

文化[edit]

2019年9月，新乡村列入「2018年广东省民主法治示范村（社区）」创建单位名单；广东省爱卫会于2023年5月授予新乡村「2022年广东省卫生村」称号。[1]
