东明村是潮安区归湖镇下辖的行政村，位于乡政府东北面约2.5公里处。它东面与大山、文祠两地隔溪相望，西面连着高原村，北面接高升村，南面与东山村毗邻。[1]

历史沿革[edit]

1958年公社化时，此地属高升大队。1974年，因地处高升大队东面，定名「东升大队」；1981年因与他处同名，改为「东明大队」；1999年改称东明村民委员会，名称沿用至今。[1]

姓氏宗族[edit]

大印村的居民为文、陈两姓：文氏祖先在清乾隆年间自凤凰黄涂坑来到此地，陈姓则从饶平迁入。[1]

乌石村姓文，清乾隆末年从凤凰七楼迁来。解放战争时期，游击四支队的仓库曾设在此村，此地也是凤东政府的驻地。[1]

桶盘坵村姓文，清光绪末年从凤凰下埔迁来定居。[1]

文化[edit]

在2018年广东省「民主法治示范村（社区）」创建单位名单中，本村于2019年9月入列。2021年9月，东明村入选第二批广东省「一村一品、一镇一业」专业村，产业为茶叶。2023年5月，广东省爱卫会将「2022年广东省卫生村」的称号授予本村。[1]
