华东村别称塘东，位于彩塘镇政府驻地东南约二千五百米。[1]

历史沿革[edit]

沈姓于宋末元初自福建迁来定居，村址位于彩塘之东，故称塘东，后改名华东。解放前后属华美乡；1956年合作化后名为华东高级社；1958年公社化，归华一大队；1975年析出，自成华东大队；1999年起为华东村民委员会。[1]

经济[edit]

2021年12月，村获评「2021年广东省卫生村」。[1]

文化[edit]

村东的急公好义坊为清代石牌坊，据博雅地名网为市级重点保护文物。[1] 据百度百科，该坊位于华美村塘东桥边，见彩塘镇条目。[2]
