平南村位于三乡镇南部，在三乡镇政府南偏西约1.1公里处，面积8.49平方千米。博雅地名网在其网页上称之为平岚南村。[1]

历史沿革[edit]

北宋时，林鼎英从南雄县迁居此地，当时称林堡。后来聚成村落，原分平、岚两村，之后合称平岚。1958年析出的一支叫平一大队；1983年与平二、南龙合组成平岚乡。1986年12月，因地处平岚南部，改用今名。[1][2]

2001年底，平岚南与南龙两村并成平南村。[2]

地理环境[edit]

村落由北堡、中堡、南堡、田堡、林堡和斑鸠埔等地组成，聚落呈块状分布。北面有广珠公路，南面有谷都大道，东面有金谷大道。[2]

人口民族[edit]

2008年，村内常住人口为12789人。同年法人单位有170个，工业产值为54031万元。[2]

经济[edit]

村内有60多家外资厂企，行业以制衣、玩具、刺绣、陶瓷制品和塑胶为主。村里投入千余万元，完善了谷都大道旁一千多亩工业区的配套设施。[2]

文化[edit]

已故著名电影艺术家郑君里是本村人。中山纪念中学三鑫双语学校设在村内。[2]
