初坑村位于东坑镇南部，与大朗镇、寮步镇接壤，东坑大道贯穿全村。村内辖有初坑、龙坑、正坑、小塘、杨梅岭5个自然村。[1][2]

沿革[edit]

博雅地名网记载，初坑原名丁屋新围，清末由丁屋村民分居而来。当时附近还没有其他村落，故称初坑。[3]

据博雅地名网，龙坑村民于明嘉靖年间由草塘丁屋迁入；正坑于清初立村，因村前有深坑得名；小塘于清乾隆年间由丁屋村民分居立村；杨梅岭清初立村。[2]

1999年改称初坑村委会。[4]

十八烈士纪念碑[edit]

初坑村独岭上立有十八烈士纪念碑。据博雅地名网，1946年4月，东江纵队一支队的一个中队在寮步凫山一带被当地武装发现，遭国民党军队突袭后向大岭山方向突围，转至东坑正坑村休整。[2]

4月20日凌晨，该中队被驻寮步的国民党军一个连和寮步联防队包围，激战至上午，18名游击队员在突围中牺牲。收殓遗体的是正坑村的群众，并将他们葬在独岭顶上。[2]

镇人民政府在1956年出资立碑，此后曾于1965年、1999年、2005年三次重修。2008年4月，纪念碑被东莞市精神文明建设委员会命名为爱国主义教育基地。[2]

现状[edit]

据东坑镇政府网，户籍方面为1109户、3026人，流动人口约2.3万。[1]

村内有幼儿园3所、卫生站3所，并设有党群服务中心、老人活动中心、公园和篮球场等场所。[1]
