寮边头村位于东坑镇东南部，下辖寮边头、东门、吉园、岭贝坑、寮边坑5条自然村。村名因村旁早年的草寮而来。[1][2][4]

沿革[edit]

据博雅地名网，温姓人于宋代仁宗年间立村；南宋末年，卢姓始祖卢金贵由南雄珠玑巷迁入。[2] 百度百科则称该村始建于北宋咸平年间（998至1003年）。两说年代不同，此处并列。[4]

村名来源，博雅地名网记为有人在水边搭草寮居住，故称寮边头；百度百科亦以村旁草寮解释村名。[2][4]

清代该地属文顺乡，后划归常平、横沥等公社管辖；1984年改设乡人民政府，1999年改为村委会。[2][3]

现状[edit]

据东坑镇政府网，村子紧挨东安路与骏发一路，面积约0.85平方公里；常住约6000人，其中户籍1820人。2025年，村集体资产约1.6亿元（16172万元），经营收入合计1956万元。[1]

村里新设了议事场所和活动场所，又在旧村推进绿化美化，并铺开「四小园」建设。[1]

文化与产业[edit]

百度百科称，村内现存东门武馆遗址，建有荔枝公园；村经济以工业为主，建有桃源工业区，重点发展毛织和五金产业，2010年获评「广东省卫生村」。[4]
