严屋社区位于东莞市万江街道中西部，东侧与拔蛟窝相连，南靠上甲，北与蚬涌为邻，是通往深圳、东莞五环路的入口之一。社区由严屋、高基、西汴头、罗浮尾四个自然村组成。[1]
地名由来与历史[edit]
1152年，南宋绍兴年间，一支严姓人家从顺德来到此处开村立业，因村中多为严氏聚居，村子称为严屋。[1]
1961年隶属罗屋壆大队，1991年由罗屋壆分出，成为严屋管理区。1997年改为严屋村委会，2005年成立社区居委会。[1]
交通旧貌[edit]
博雅地名网记载，20世纪50年代之前，村中有三处渡口，以严屋渡口为村民往来罗屋壆的要道。1980年代后期，水榕树渡口一带改建为汾溪桥，高基渡口改建为水闸，严屋渡口随之不复存在。[1]
荣誉[edit]
2019年9月，社区获评2018年度广东省「民主法治示范村（社区）」的创建单位。[1]
