石井社区处在东城街道的东侧，靠近东城中心区，占地约1.5平方千米。辖区内有4条自然村，分别是石井小组、平地山、水流坑和蓢基湖。[1][2]

社区内的宋皇姑墓是一处市级文物保护古迹。[2][3]

历史沿革[edit]

据博雅地名网，宋初即有村落。1949年，这里归东莞县第五区六凤乡管辖；1952年改属第五区主山乡，1953年属第一区，1957年划归罗治大队，1958年改由附城公社的主山大队管辖。1963年，这里成为石井大队，1984年为石井乡，1987年为管理区，1998年为村委会，2005年村改居，称石井社区居委会。[1]

截至2017年5月底，全社区登记的居民为2166人，计554户，另有1860名股东。出租屋数量为734间，流动人口则在4000以上。[2]

园区方面，这里有石井桑园与石井同沙两个工业园，合占约460亩土地。辖区企业48家，小商铺455间。[2]

文物与荣誉[edit]

宋皇姑墓的墓地在狮子岭上，建于南宋淳祐六年（即1246年），面积80平方米。[2][3]

社区先后获评全国综合减灾示范社区、东莞市生态社区和东莞市儿童友好社区。[2]
