赤米村是西牛镇下辖的行政村，辖25个村民小组，村内有大份、大村两个新农村示范村。村内有一家麻竹笋加工企业，镇属国有公司也在村内集中经营撂荒地。[2][3]

历史沿革[edit]

1958年设赤米大队，1990年改设赤米管理区，1998年10月7日改称赤米村委会。[1]

经济[edit]

全村共1193户、5004人，辖25个村民小组，设小学1间，村级卫生站2个。[2]

村内的英德市鸿德食品有限公司是一家农产品加工企业，主要加工麻竹笋、干笋和果蔬罐头，产品分为即食调味笋、清水笋和笋干三大系列。该公司被列为「清远市重点农业龙头企业」，其认定年份为2006年。[2]

2026年，镇属国有公司西南公司接手村内撂荒地和零散低效的土地，集中连片经营。西牛镇又在赤米村一带划出富硒优质水稻核心区。[3]

文化[edit]

2020年8月，赤米村列入「首批广东省“一村一品、一镇一业”专业村」名单，产品为麻竹笋；2021年9月，又列入「第二批广东省“一村一品、一镇一业”专业村」名单，产品为菜干。2026年1月，赤米村获评「广东省第二批“百千万工程”典型村」。[1]
