西牛是西牛镇下辖的社区，位于镇中心区，管辖21个村民小组。社区以种植麻竹笋为主，另有多间竹笋加工厂。[1]

地名由来[edit]

圩镇旁的连江中有一处深潭，名叫犀牛潭，圩场因此称作犀牛，后改称西牛。[1]

社区农业以麻竹笋为主，并种植沙糖桔、冬瓜等蔬菜。社区内开有多间竹笋厂，以民间传统方法加工竹笋制品。[1]

荣誉[edit]

2020年8月，西牛社区被列入广东省农业农村厅公布的「首批广东省“一村一品、一镇一业”专业村」名单，产品为麻竹笋。2021年12月，广东省爱卫会授予社区「2021年广东省卫生村」荣誉称号；2023年5月，同一机构授予社区岩仔村「2022年广东省卫生村」称号。[1]
