沙口镇是广东省清远市英德市下辖的镇，位于英德市北部的北江河谷一带，北面与韶关市曲江区、翁源县接壤。镇域面积约360平方千米，辖1个社区和14个行政村。[2][4]

镇名取自地形：两侧山势高耸，秋冬枯水时河沙裸露，北风沿河谷吹进，当地便称之为“风沙之口”。水泥工业、小水电和英石是镇内的传统产业，近年镇政府又推动麻竹笋、甘薯等农产品，并把沙口定位为“新型能源小镇”。[1][2][4]

历史沿革[edit]

沙口一带自明洪武二年（1369年）起设有建置。康熙四十四年（1705年）的图甲编制中，清溪、石坑、蕉园、签石、塔桥等地名已经出现。道光十六年（1836年）此地分设七个乡，宣统三年（1911年）改设沙口乡。[3]

新中国成立后，英德县设英东、英西、英中三个区，沙口乡归英中区管辖。1958年全县划出6个人民公社，此地暂与望埠、横石塘一道归入东风人民公社。1961年5月，望埠人民公社中划出了沙口一片，单独组成沙口人民公社。此后，1983年7月起设沙口区，1987年4月起改称镇。[3]

地理环境[edit]

镇域处于北江河谷，北江流经镇区附近。京广铁路在镇内设有沙口站。[2][4]

人口[edit]

博雅地名网按第七次全国人口普查结果，记2021年6月的人口为2.82万人。维基百科则写作约4.1万人，村委会与居委会的数目也与前者不同（它作15个村委会、2个居委会）。两说并存，本条以前者为准。[2][4]

经济[edit]

水泥工业与小水电是镇内的两大产业。英石是园林观赏石，沙口是其主要产地之一。[4]

2024年的工作总结称，全镇麻竹种植面积约5000亩，配套的初加工、深加工厂房预计当年底投产。甘薯方面，规划建设脱毒种苗基地60亩与高产示范区1000亩。镇里还谋划红峰村的红薯加工项目，并探索麻竹笋、北江鱼等产品的预制菜。[1]

码头工程方面，清远港英德港区沙口作业区的一期公用码头正在推进，国能清远电厂的相关项目也在进行。[1]

名胜古迹[edit]

清溪村北江东岸的一级阶地上，留有史老墩遗址，年代从新石器时代延续到商代。遗址于1996年被发现，此后发掘了200平方米，最厚的文化层超过3米。[5]

石门台保护区与滑水山保护区都跨越沙口的辖区，给麻竹笋种植与农文旅发展带来一定困难。[1]

滑水山是英德市境内的山峰，海拔1142米。[6]

传统村落[edit]

2019年6月，长江坝村列入第五批中国传统村落名录。[8] 英德市历史文化名城保护规划又把新建村的杨塘传统村落、长江坝村传统村落列为中国传统村落保护对象，分别划定核心保护范围1.33公顷和1.26公顷。[7]
