村名取辖区内「新围」的「新」字与「扬星」的「星」字合成「新星」。[1]

沿革[edit]

1950年为乡，1958年为大队，1983年复称乡，1987年改称村委会，1989年底为管理区，1999年再称村委会，沿用至今。[1]

组织[edit]

村内设3个党支部和1个经济联社。15个村民理事会分别以新一村至新五村、高一村、高二村、新围村、马颈村等命名。[1]
