新桥村是东城街道下辖的行政村，位于街道东北面，距街道办事处约9公里，管辖21条自然村，以种养业为主。[1]

村中共有3849人口。耕地合计3918亩，水田2954亩与旱地964亩并存。[1]

地名由来[edit]

村中一条河流把两岸村民隔开，往来十分不便。后人在河上建起一座麻石桥，称为新桥。村委会驻地靠近新桥，村名由此而来。[1]

沿革[edit]

1953年设乡时定名新桥。之后经历大队、乡、村委会、管理区等变动，1999年改称村委会，沿用至今。[1]

荣誉[edit]

2020年12月，新桥村上榜「2020年广东省民主法治示范村（社区）」创建单位名单。2021年9月，村被认定为「第二批全国乡村治理示范村」。2024年4月，村入选「广东省第一批乡村振兴示范村」创建名单。2025年3月，村被命名为「第七届全国文明村镇」。[1]
