平原村位于阳西县程村镇，村委会所在地的东、南、西、北各有一处以「平」字命名的地方，村委所在的这一段地方因此称为平原。[1]

历史沿革[edit]

1949年11月设平原行政村，归阳江县六区。1953年设平原乡，隶阳江县十二区，1956年划入程村区，1958年5月隶属程村乡。同年11月并入大跃进人民公社，12月改属织篢人民公社。[2]

1959年设平原生产大队，同年10月划入程村人民公社。1967年改为平原革命居委会，1980年改为生产大队管委会。1983年春设平原乡，1987年2月组建平原村委会，1988年阳西建县后属阳西县程村镇。1989年9月设平原管理区，1999年9月恢复平原村委会。[2]

文化[edit]

2021年度「阳江市卫生村」名单中有湴坑村、东村元村、下大岸村（2021年12月确定）。2019年9月，平原村列入2018年「广东省民主法治示范村（社区）」创建名单。[1]
