半江镇位于东源县西北部，地处新丰江水库上游，是东源县下辖的一个镇，辖9个行政村。^[1]^[3]

镇政府驻半江圩，距县城85公里。^[5]^[6]

历史沿革[edit]

1957年，半江由新丰县划归河源县管辖。1959年春，库区内立溪、南湖、回龙、锡场和半江等地组建为水库公社；1962年，水库公社撤销，另设半江公社。^[1]

1983年改为半江区，1987年又称半江乡；1988年1月起归河源市郊区管辖，1993年11月起属东源县。^[1]^[4]

1994年1月，经省政府批准，半江乡改为半江镇，东源县由此共辖24个镇。^[4]^[1]

地理环境[edit]

镇内地势东北高、西南低，东部与西北部为高山环绕，峰峦起伏，溪涧纵横，森林茂密。^[3]

境内有铁帽山、大钟山两处铁锡矿，博雅地名网称其储量大、品位高，且已开采。^[3]
