园田村位于廻龙镇内，与罗明村、骆岐村、万塘村等相邻。村名来自地形：村子两侧的山势呈弧形相合，中间围出一个大圆圈，土地肥沃，宛如田园。村内有中共龙川县委旧址。[1]

历史沿革[edit]

解放初至1977年前，园田一直属骆田大队。1983年分出单设园田大队，次年又并回骆田大队。1987年为村委会，1989年设园田管区，1999年重设村委会。[1]

革命旧址[edit]

中共龙川县委旧址在本村袁高榕屋。据博雅地名网，鹤市暴动受挫之后，特支及县苏维埃的骨干遭围捕杀害，幸存者被悬赏追捕，不得不远走他乡谋生，龙川的革命活动也因此转移。[1]

中共龙川县第一次党员代表大会旧址同在村内，与县委旧址一道，成为全县党员干部学习党史的基地。[2]

荣誉[edit]

省卫生村名录于2019年10月收入园田村。[1]

2019年9月，园田村列入2018年广东省「民主法治示范村（社区）」创建单位名单。[1]
