上石村在中坝镇境内。中坝圩西南有一块白石朝东耸立，村子位于白石山的上片，故名上石。[1] 该村两度进入省级名单：2019年9月是「2018年广东省民主法治示范村（社区）」创建单位，2023年5月又获省爱卫会授予「2022年广东省卫生村」。[1]

历史沿革[edit]

上石最早在1952年5月成为乡，隶属第二区，1958年起叫大队。1983年撤社设区时又改称乡，1987年撤区建镇后转为村委会，两年后一度叫管理区，1999年4月再改回村委会，至今未变。[1]
